October 17, 2016 thru October 30, 2016

Fraud – On October 17, 2016 at 10:10am, Patrolman Justin Apel responded to a residence on Ensign Avenue.  The caller reported that they believe they noticed fraudulent activity on a checking account involving charges not made by them.  The report was forwarded to the detective bureau for follow up.

Lost Property – On October 17, 2016 at 1:24pm, Patrolman Justin Apel was dispatched to a residence on Beachwood Boulevard for a lost purse.  The resident was unsure of an exact location where the item was lost.

Fire Call – On October 17, 2016 at 4:34pm, officers responded to a residence on the 300 block of Capstan Avenue for a smoke alarm activation.  The Beachwood Fire Department arrived and check the residence.  It was determined to be an alarm malfunction.

Theft – On October 18, 2016 at 8:38am, Patrolman Adam O’Connor was dispatched to a Halliard Avenue address for a theft report.  Upon the officers arrival the resident advised that an the copper coil from an air conditioning unit was stolen.

Warrant Arrest – On October 19, 2016 at 10:25am, Patrolman Dennis Allen arrested Cory Milligan, 26 years old from Toms River on an outstanding warrant from South Toms River.  Milligan was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of the $1904.00 bail amount.

CDS – On October 19, 2016 at 2:09pm, Patrolman Dennis Allen conducted a motor vehicle stop on Elm Street.  After speaking with the driver, the officer requested a K9 from the Ocean County Sheriffs Department.  As a result of the officers investigation, the driver identified as Jason Safoschnik 26 from Staten Island was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was taken to Beachwood Police Headquarters were he was processed and released on a summons.

Theft – On October 19, 2016 at 7:00pm, Patrolman Keith Meissner responded to a residence on the 300 block of Anchor Avenue for a theft report.  The resident advised that fire wood was stolen from the driveway area of the property.  The wood was reportedly valued at $1000.00.

Found Property – On October 20, 2016 at 11:52am, Patrolman Sean Langan was dispatched to headquarters to meet a party who found a wallet and cell phone.  As a result, Ptl. Langan was able to locate the owner of the wallet and return it.  The owner advised that nothing was missing from the wallet.

Motor Vehicle Accident – On October 20, 2016 at 2:38pm, Sgt. Melillo responded to a one car accident involving a telephone pole on the 300 block of Beachwood Boulevard.  As a result of the accident both the driver and passenger were treated by Beachwood First Aid.  Power was interrupted to several of the homes in the area for short period of time due to the accident.

DWI Arrest – On October 21, 2016 at 2:27am, Sgt. Adam Griesemer stop a vehicle on Berkeley Avenue for a traffic violation.  Upon the officer obtaining the drivers identification and conducting an investigation on scene, the driver, identified as Lyndsie Doyle, 31 from Beachwood was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Attempted Burglary – On October 21, 2016 at 12:52pm, Patrolman Sean Langan responded to an residence on the 200 block of Mizzen Avenue where the caller reported that there were pry marks near the front door area.  No entry was made to the residence and there was limited information as to when the marks occurred.  The detective bureau was assigned to follow up.

Criminal Mischief – On October 21, 2016 at 10:59pm, Officer Gina Bruno took a report from a resident who reported damage that was done to campaign signs.  The signs were valued at $135.00.  The information obtained about the damage was from social media and the follow up is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

DWI Arrest – On October 22, 2016 at 6:46pm Officer Gina Bruno along with Sgt. Mussari and Patrolman Dave Bowden responded to the area of Ship Ave. and Nautilus Street for a hit and run accident.  The officers learned that a red wagon type vehicle hit a fence and fled the scene.  Officer Gina Bruno located the vehicle on Ship Avenue.  As a result of the officers investigation, the driver, Linda Read, 46 from Washington, NJ was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report accident.  She was transported to Beachwood Police Headquarters were she was processed and released.

Fire Call – On October 26, 2016 at 6:08pm, officers were dispatched to the municipal complex for a fire alarm activation.  Upon their arrival along with the Beachwood Fire Company it was learned that a child pulled the fire alarm.

Burglary – On October 27, 2016 at 12:40am, officers were dispatched to a business located at 118 Atlantic City Boulevard for an alarm condition.  Once on scene Officer Anthony and Officer Langan located a broken window in the rear of the business.  The officers checked the building but were unable to locate anyone.  It was determined that someone entered the rear door to the business after breaking the window.  The owner advised that one air soft pellet gun was stolen from the business.  The follow up investigation is being conducted by Det. Allen Magory.  Video footage of the business as well as from surrounding business is being checked.

Fraud – On October 28, 2016 at 12:01pm, Patrolman Sean Langan was dispatched to a Halliard Avenue address for a fraud report.  The resident advised that a purchase of a vehicle was agreed upon via email communication and as a result a money wire transfer was completed by the victim.  As of the date of the report the victim did not receive delivery of the vehicle.  The case is under investigation by the detective bureau.

Criminal Mischief – On October 29, 2016 at 2:25pm, Patrolman Sean Langan was dispatched to an Ocean Avenue residence for a report of eggs thrown at a vehicle.  Upon the officers arrival the resident stated that someone threw two eggs at their vehicle which was parked in the driveway.  A home video surveillance system may have captured the incident which occurred sometime during the overnight hours.

Theft – On October 28, 2016 at 7:30pm, Patrolman Phil Schena took a report while at headquarters from a parent who stated that their child’s cell phone was stolen while at school.  The phone which was valued at $300.00 was believed to have been taken from backpack.

Criminal Mischief – On October 30, 2016 at 11:56am, Patrolman Dennis Allen responded to an address on the 800 block of Ocean Avenue for damage to a vehicle.  The resident stated that sometime between 5:00pm and 11:00pm on October 29th the rear window on his vehicle was damaged.

Criminal Mischief – On October 30, 2016 at 5:48pm, Patrolman Dennis Allen took a report of damage to a vehicle which was done while at a residence on Cable Avenue.  The victim advised that their car was scratched possibly with a key sometime overnight.  The victim stated that the incident was not random and believes that they may know the person who did the damage.
