February 1, 2017 through February 14, 2017

Criminal Mischief:    On February 1, 2017, at 1:25 a.m. officers responded to two suspicious males in the area of Locker Street and Longboat Avenue.  Upon arrival, a Borough street sign was observed to be damaged.  An opened bottle of Bud Light beer was recovered at the scene, possibly the item used to cause the damage.    The suspicious males were gone upon officer arrival.

Theft Call:  On February 2, 2017, Ptl. Justin Apel was dispatched to a residence on the 800 block of Ensign Avenue regarding an on-going theft case involving fraudulent credit activity.  The case has been assigned to the Detective Bureau for follow up.

Warrant Arrest:     On February 2, 2017, at 9:25 p.m., Robert L. Fredericks, age 31, of Seaside Heights, NJ, was arrested on a warrant from Wall Township in the amount of $739 by Ptl. William Manganiello during a motor vehicle stop. The subject was unable to post bail and was turned over the Wall Township Police Department without incident. 

Narcotics Arrest:   Ptl. Kyle Schweiger responded to investigate a suspicious vehicle on the 300 block of Tiller Avenue at 8:19 p.m. on February 3, 2017.  Upon checking the area a vehicle was located on Surf Avenue near Wave Street.  During the motor vehicle stop, a smell of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.  As a result of the officers investigation, the juvenile driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The vehicle was impounded and the juvenile was processed and  released to a parent pending juvenile complaints. 

Fire call:  On February 4, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. Ptl. Justin Apel and Ptl. Dennis Allen responded to a fire alarm activation at an apartment complex on the 300 block of Capstan Avenue.  It was determined the alarm was set off as a result of burnt cooking.  The Beachwood Volunteer Fire Department responded and vented the complex for the smoke condition.

Warrant Arrest:  On February 5, 2017, at 3:46 a.m., Tyrone A. Hester, Jr., age 26, was arrested by Ptl. Dennis Allen on the strength of warrants from multiple jurisdictions totaling $2,836.  Hester was unable to post bail and was transported and lodged in the Ocean County Jail. 

Theft by Deception:    Ptl. Philip Schena took a walk-in report at headquarters on February 6, 2017 at 2:16 p.m. after a resident reported that they lost $995 in a suspected scam regarding a time share rental.  This matter is also being investigated by law enforcement in Florida, and a report was needed here for bank documenting purposes. 

Warrant Arrest:   On February 7, 2017, at 2:11 p.m., Michael Krempel, age 26 of Bayville, was arrested by the patrol division on the 800 block of Berkeley Avenue for an outstanding warrant from Point Pleasant jurisdiction in the amount of $767.  Ptl. Philip Schena arrested an transported the subject to Beachwood Police Headquarters where he was processed and released pending a new court date.

Criminal Mischief:  Ptl. Justin Apel took a report on February 8, 2017, at 9:07 a.m. called in by the Beachwood Public Works Department regarding a broken park bench at Mayo Park.  Follow up has been assigned to the Detective Bureau. 

Fire Call:  On February 8, 2017, at 3:45 p.m.,  Ptl. Keith Meissner responded to an active vehicle fire on Maple Street near Mermaid Avenue.  The driver of a 2001 Honda 2 door, reported that they pulled over after having electrical issues and then reported that the vehicle was on fire.  The fire was extinguished by the Beachwood Volunteer Fire Company and was followed up by the Ocean County Fire Marshall’s office along with the Beachwood Police Detective Bureau.

Criminal Mischief:  On February 10, 2017, at 9:07 p.m.,  Ptl. Gina Bruno took a report of a damaged mailbox on Nautilus Street.  Ptl. Bruno and Ptl. Andrew Altman checked the area for any possible suspects with negative results. 

Wires Down:    On February 12, 2017, at 5:19 p.m. Ptl. David Bowden and Ptl. Gina Bruno responded to wires down in the area of Chestnut Street and Spar Avenue.  It was determined that the wire was a cable wire and Comcast was notified to repair the downed wires. 

Wires Down:    On February 13, 2017 at 3:50pm, Officer Manganiello, was dispatched to the area of Atlantic City Boulevard and Longboat Avenue for wires down.  The wire was observed to be a phone line and Verizon was notified.

Narcotics Arrest:  On February 14, 2017 at 10:55pm, Patrolman Andrew Altman conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Locker Street and Beach Avenue.  As a result of the officers investigation, the driver, Michael Barcalow, 41 of Toms River, was arrested for possession marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses and the vehicle was impounded.  The subject was transported to Beachwood Police Headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.
